Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer announced that they have decided to transfer students studying in Adana, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye and Şanlıurfa to schools across the country, in line with their preferences, due to the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş occurred on 6 February.

 

Stating that within the framework of the relevant legislation, students in the provinces where a state of emergency was declared due to the earthquake disaster are planned to be placed directly in boarding houses by "free boarding". He stated that the provision of the Regulation on Boarding, Scholarship, Social Welfare and Boarding Houses of Public Schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, saying: "Students who are in need of protection due to extraordinary circumstances such as natural disasters and war... are placed in secondary education institutions suitable for their situation as free guests." gives a chance to implement this plan.

 

Minister Özer said that the secondary and high school students in quake-hit provinces, where a state of emergency was declared due to the earthquake that occurred on February 6, 2023, will be able to be placed directly in boarding houses across the country as "free boarder" in case they want.  

 

Stating that students will apply to the schools that have an available quota, Minister Özer said that if there is no place in the boarding house, an application will be made to the provincial/district scholarship and free boarding commission and this commission will place the students in a convenient boarding house.
